Leading American business magazine and publication Forbes has published an article titled – “ How Nigeria’s Rich Spend Over $2 Million On Their Dream Wedding“.

From the wedding planner to the dress and refreshments, a few top Nigerian wedding planners share with the publication, how Nigeria’s most wealthy dish out cash for

the dream day.

Funke Bucknor of Zapphaire Events : “Our core clientèle is mainly made up by millionaires. They will not hesitate to

spend the money in order to get what they want. If they need to fly in an artist from America, or a decorator from Dubai or London, they will do so.

Cause one wedding alone just doesn’t cut it. First there is the traditional wedding – the only wedding recognized by the family – followed by the white wedding, which is

similar to that which we know in the West. As for the Latter, the destination wedding is all the rage. Dubai and London are the most popular destinations, followed by Cape Town, Seychelles and the Maldives. Florence in

weddings keep our economy going. Normally the rich Nigerians will spend their money abroad, whenever they go shopping. Thanks to the wedding industry the money is

being invested back into our economy. Jobs of caterers, tailors, carpenters and upholsterers are being sustained.

Prior to these major weddings, the profession of make-up artist wasn’t even considered a full-time job.

Up to fifteen years ago, some weddings wouldn’t even have a table cloth on the tables and they wouldn’t have

any flowers except for the bridal bouquet. Nowadays Nigerian weddings will feature expensive flowers from France, silk table cloth and lots of crystal. A lot of the

elite Nigerian kids have been educated abroad, so they’re used to the international standard when it comes to detail. They’ve become accustomed to a certain standard,

so to import something isn’t unusual to them” the décor specialist slash wedding planner explains. Currently trending amongst the international kids is the flower

wall, which surged in popularity after Kim Kardashian’s marriage to Kanye West .

It has happened three times in the last five years that I’ve organized a wedding that cost over $2 million. They spent the most on food, Cristal champagne, entertainment and gifts to their guests. At one wedding all the invitees got their wedding outfit with their

invitation. At another wedding they handed out microwave ovens, smart phones and rice cookers, to all of their guests. At some other weddings they’ll fly in their guests and arrange their accommodation in case they decide to get married overseas. I killed my master because I needed N150,000 for Dubai trip – motor boy

I stabbed him, threw him out of the truck
Preliminary investigation as gathered , revealed that Saidu allegedly murdered the truck driver before diverting the truck to the northern part of the country.
In this interview, Saidu gave a graphic description of how he stabbed his master with a knife and threw him out of the truck , before taking over the steering..

Asked what made him carry out such dastardly act, Saidu replied : “ I killed Mr Aremu because I wanted to sell the
aviation fuel and use the money to travel to Dubai on a business trip” Narrating how he snuffed life out of Aremu whom he fondly called baba Oyo, , Saidu said: “ A day after we left Lagos, at about 6pm, the company called baba Oyo and instructed him to park at Umunede, Delta state for security reason and that he should proceed on the
journey the following day.
While there , I bought a knife without him knowing and tied it with a rope on my leg. Very early the third day, baba Oyo started the ignition to continue the journey. As
he was about to move, I told him that one of the tyres had developed a fault. I came out of the vehicle and pretended to be checking the tyres. I went to his side of the truck, bent down as if checking the tyres and in the process, I brought out my knife. But as I raised my hand to stab him, he held my hand and we started struggling,
in the process of which the knife cut me on the index finger. I succeeded in stabbing him first on the lap and blood started gushing out. Again, I stabbed him again in the stomach, leaving the knife in there. By then he was too weak to shout.
Thereafter, I pushed him out of the vehicle and mounted the driver’s seat and zoomed off.
Diverts truck to the north
My intention was to take the aviation fuel to Taraba state and sell it at the black market. When I got to Adamawa state, I sold four drums , at the rate of N28,000 per drum. On reaching Katsina Ala, the truck
developed a fault and I ended up spending N57,000 to fix it. I continued the journey but on reaching Mutum Biu, I was stopped by some soldiers who were on a joint operation with the Police, at a check point. They
demanded for the way bill and I showed them.
But one of the policemen asked where the plate number was and I brought it out from where I kept it. I had earlier removed it because the company’s number was
inscribed on it. When the policemen dialled the telephone number, they discovered that the vehicle was supposed to be heading for Port Harcourt. When they asked what it
was doing at Taraba, I could not provide a ready answer and I was subsequently apprehended”

Gbenga Adeyinka: Versatile MC on the path of Greatness

No doubt, Ace comedian, Gbenga Adeyinka, who went by the title CFR, and now GCON (Grand Comedian of Nigeria) has made Nigerians proud both at home and in the
Diaspora. Gbenga is very popular with his shine shine bobo ‘Star Game Show’. Although he may not be the most amazing comedian in Nigeria, one thing stands him out and that is his spectacular way of delivering his comedy.
Adeyinka is known to use different languages to bring his
comedy home and he is arguably the only comedian who has taken comedy to the 36 states of the country. He is known to compeer major ceremonies and shows in
dramatic ways.

His launch into stand-up comedy was during his university days, but he later left it for a full time job in an engineering company after school. But his history was
re-written when young Gbenga left employment to face his dream of entertaining people without actually
believing he would make anything out of it.

Today, Gbenga’s story has changed. He has spent more than a decade in the comedy business with world class reputation
and an unforgettable 20 years in marriage.

Gbenga Adeyinka
The Ogun state born superstar, Gbenga Adeyinka, who hails precisely from Abeokuta, got employment in his uncle’s engineering firm after his graduation from University of Lagos, but he left the job without much ado because of his love for the stage and comedy. For him, comedy was ultimate as it comes naturally to him and fun, so even when given a good paying job, he opted for
the stage.

But young Gbenga didn’t know how far he would go until he met the likes of Akin Akindele and Tee A. Along the
line, he knew that he could do better by becoming an MC instead of a stand- up comedian and when he took that
decision, he found out that he made the right choice because he was launched into limelight. Of course it wasn’t always easy because he was virtually doing shows for free or close to nothing, this he
continued doing until after he had paid his dues, then the glory, the fame, and the money and recommendation
came in. Gbenga started anchoring Television programmes on AIT, Galaxy TV, MBI and African Magic on DSTV and on other
television shows. His greatest selling point is his ability to speak the language of a particular tribe if he has to talk about that tribe. This made people from all parts of
the country to identify with the brand, Gbenga Adeyinka.

Gbenga is so down-to-earth that he could sit on the floor to play with children without any air. Perhaps this is the reason behind the contract he had with Nigerian Breweries. He was chosen as their corporate affairs director after he had anchored a major TV show for them
known as “Star the game show”. Gbenga Adeyinka would dress like someone from Niger Delta and speak the three
major Nigerian languages and other international languages to buttress his comedy.

His brand and accolades
Gbenga Adeyinka has grown his brand to the extent that he compeers wedding ceremonies for the rich and mighty
in the society. He is a man of many parts; Gbenga is the first Stand-up comedian to have worked in Ghana where
he has a huge fan base. Gbenga is the publisher of the first Nigeria’s Comedy Magazine called LAFFMATTAZZ
MAGAZINE described by many as the voice of the Nigerian Comedy Industry.
His exciting career has taken him to the UK, Sierra Leone, Liberia, South Africa and to the whole 36 states of Nigeria. Gbenga has worked for the Nigeria Breweries
Plc., for whom for the past seven years he has hosted the award winning STAR TV GAME that runs on NTA and other major networks in Nigeria and internationally on DSTV. He has had the privilege of anchoring Nigeria’s
premium Music Concert STAR MEGA JAM and even shared the same stage with reputable international stars likes Awilo, Akon, LL cool J, Ja Rule, Kevin Little, T Pain,
Kanye West, Buster Rhymes, Ludacris and other Nigerian artistes.

Gbenga Adeyinka in more than one occasion has been described as the most versatile comedian in the business; he has the ability and sensibility to work a large crowd to

I don’t use sex as propaganda to sell my music – BabaDee

Dare Fasasi otherwise known as Baba Dee, has beaten his chest that he doesn’t use sex as a propaganda to sell his music.
The dancehall star and actor, who recently co- produced a movie with his brother Sound Sultan said: “It is the normal thing that happens in America and other countries.
I for one has never been a propagator of sex as means of selling my music” he said
“ Even when I do, I try to make it subtle. I don’t think it’s right, I don’t think it’s the best way.”I don’t have a right to judge people that are doing it, but I don’t do it. Our camp, Naija Ninjas don’t do it, we have had responsible releases over the years” he added.

Popular indigenous rapper, Remilekun Safaru known as Reminisce has come out to declare that though people term his indigenous rap music as foul and disgusting
music, but he is getting rich off it.

“I don’t think anyone has given indigenous rappers any chance, we took it by ourselves. We just decided among ourselves that we need to make people know what we have to offer. Indigenous rappers own the crowd. Let’s be very honest with ourselves, how many people can speak good English in this country? It’s about the audience affiliating with the artistes who speak their language.
It’s not about calling indigenous rappers razz and local.
More people want to be razz now; they think razz is the new cool. Luckily for me, I am selling razz music and I am getting rich off it. “

The Alaga Ibile star also said that his voice is what sets him apart from every rapper. “I think it’s my voice that makes me different from any other rapper. My voice is my strong point, nobody sounds like me”

Future Award special: Linda Ikeji donates N1m to fight Ebola

It was indeed an unforgettable evening of inspiration and glitz, as the Future Awards Africa 2014 held on Sunday at the prestigious Intercontinental Hotel.
The event hosted by Iyanya, Osas Ighodaro, Ice Prince and Flavia was graced by stars like Omotola Jalade- Ekeinde, Banky W, Funke Akindele, Seyi Shay, Dakore Akande, Timi Dakolo, Toke Makinwa, Toolz, Uti
Nwachukwu, and others notable dignitaries.
Ten outstanding individuals were rewarded for their excellent work across different fields: business, entertainment, politics, science and technology and education.
A star highlight of the evening was the final phase of TFAA’s #STOPEBOLA campaign, which was held via an auction on a custom piece by A-List haute couture designer, Lanre Da Silva Ajayi. Blogger, linda Ikeji bid a whopping sum of one million naira on the dress which proceeds will go to United Nations Ebola Response Fund.

I thought I was smuggling Indian Hemp, not guns - Suspect

The Lagos State Police Command has arrested a suspected robber, Amos Kuesi, who said he thought he was smuggling hemp and not guns before he was arrested.
He told reporters “I travelled to Port Harcourt to see some friends.
I went with Sotin. On our way back, I was given a package and I was told it contained hemp. I was asked to deliver it to a man in the Mile 2 area of Lagos. I did not know the Port Harcourt boys also hid guns and live cartridges inside the bag.

“The bag was placed in the boot of the bus I
boarded from Port Harcourt to Lagos. If only I knew the content of the bag included guns, I would not have agreed to deliver it. They gave me the man’s phone number adding that he would pay me N50,000.
“But while heading for Oshodi through Agege, some policemen searched us. Sotin ran away, but the policemen arrested me.“I used to work as a generator repairer. I was living fine until some months ago when I ran into financial difficulties.

That was how I was introduced to the gang by one Ifeanyi. I knew them as casual friends. I did not know they were robbers.

MI blasts Saeon over Wizkid’s collabo charges

Seun Oni known as Saeon by music fans has a thing going for her as a singer. Her hit single ‘Boogle Down’ is a good proof of what she can do. But it seems the beautiful lady has the mischievous streak in her genetic
make-up.
Recently, she drew the ire of fellow music makers for disclosing in an interview how much Wizkid collected from her to do a collaboration with her. MI was particularly
pissed and blasted the young singer for being a loud mouth. Saeon claimed Wizkid collected N1.5 million from her but this to rapper, MI was uncalled for even though
he defended Wizkid’s right for collecting the collabo charges. “Business is business but Saeon has no right going to town to broadcast it” the rapper said.
But Potpourri has found out the two singers haven’t been true to their fans as they have made contrary statements to what transpired between them in separate
interviews before their alleged deal. In an interview with Vanguard months ago; (Excerpts of interview)

What did it cost you to feature Wizkid in the song?

We just expressed it to his camp, and I guess he did some researches on me, came back to say, yes, and that was it.
Did you have to pay?
I am just going to laugh. That will be my answer

Wizkid on the other hand, also in an interview with Vanguard had stated “ I do not charge people I love for a collabo but when somebody is on my neck, I can charge
like N10 million for it.

How Man raped 14 year old meat seller in Ibadan (Photo)

Ajani Yahaya (24) of Mapo area of Ibadan, Oyo State has been arrested for raping an underaged girl.Instead of purchasing only the dry meat, popularly known as Tinko in Yoruba, that a 14-year-old girl (names withheld) was hawking for sale, he allegedly decided to get another service he was not offered by forcefully having unlawful carnal knowledge of the girl.
The girl, a secondary school student on holiday, was said to be living at Yemetu Adeoyo area of the city with her aunt whom she helps in hawking dry meat for sale.On getting to Mapo on the day of the incident, Crime Reports learnt that Yahaya asked the girl to bring her wares upstairs where he lived and the girl complied. But on getting to him, he allegedly used a handkerchief to cover her mouth and dragged her into his room.
According to the girl, “I tried to shout but my voice could not get far and no one heard me. He raised my skirt and forcefully removed my underpants, after which he had his way. After he finished, he used the handkerchief to clean my private part. As I was about to leave, he started begging me and offered me N500. When I refused, he shouted and threatened me so I collected it from him.Afraid of what might likely be the consequence of wiping her vulva region with a handkerchief, the girl reported what happened to her when she returned home, prompting her guardian to report the case at Mapo police station.The girl however said that Yahaya was not the one who deflowered her, as she had a boyfriend called Azeez with whom she used to have sex. But she maintained that the suspect forced himself on her.When interviewed by Crime Reports at the State Criminal Investigation Department, Yahaya, an Ibadan indigene who fixes floor tiles, gave conflicting stories about what happened on that Sunday. At first, he denied seeing the girl on that particular day because he went to a party with his mother. Later, he admitted being at home. He also said he purchased dry meat from the girl but added that the girl must have told a lie against him because he did not give her the money she requested for.
“Khadijat told a lie against me that I forcefully had carnal knowledge of her. There was nothing between us apart from the fact that I used to buy dried meat from her. On that Sunday, my mother and I went out. I didn’t know what happened till the next day when police came to arrest me,” he said.When prodded, based on his statement to the police, Yahaya changed his former narration and said:
“That Sunday evening around 6p.m., it is true that I called the girl to sell dry meat for me. Before that day, we used to relate and usually joked with ourselves.“When I paid her, she told me that she misplaced money, and I should assist her. Unfortunately, I was broke, so I pleaded with her not to be angry, but she insisted that I should give her something. I angrily collected my change from her she also left angrily. Before God and man, I never had sex with her. I never wooed her either.”

A British man has been jailed  for four years after killing his friend who 'poked' his girlfriend on Facebook.
Scott Humphrey repeatedly punched Richard Rovetto during a row in a cab .Humphrey, 27, angrily asked Mr Rovet "If you're such a good friend why did you poke my missus?" According to NY Daily news, while he struck him,"Richard Rovetto said he didn't know it was his girlfriend,as the exchange became more heated." Humphrey then struck 29-year-old Mr Rovetto, causing him to bleed from the nose - then delivered the fatal blow, knocking his friend to floor and causing him to bang his head on the pavement.Father-of-one Mr Rovetto, suffered devastating head injuries and died in hospital hours later. Humphrey fled the scene but later handed himself in to police.

7 Reasons Why You Should NOT Live With Your Partner

While most couples do it and I was one half of the couple that did move in together before getting married, there are some serious perks about not living together with your partner. Others may think that shacking up with your partner before getting hitched is a good ‘test run’ but is it really as good of an idea as you may think?

Breathing space – When the two of you argue, living together might make it hard for either one of you to find a space where you can totally be on your own. Even if you go into another room, the thought of your partner being somewhere in the house might make it a little difficult for you to simmer down post-argument.

Slumber parties – I don’t care how old you are but if you have a group of girl friends that you are very close to, then slumber parties are always going to happen. Living with your boyfriend might turn him into an annoying ghost that hovers over you and your girlfriends, while you’re all watching Keeping Up with the Kardashians.

A weekend to yourself – Living under the same roof as your partner might make it hard to have an entire weekend where you can do “you” things. Because you’re both living together, you will feel the need to spend your weekend doing things that the both of you can agree on. You may as well cross off “vegetating in your underwear while streaming TV series” from your list of fun things to do.

Dirty laundry – I don’t know what it is about men and leaving socks lying around. Even if your partner is a neat guy, you can bet your bottom dollar that he will leave at least a pair of socks lying around. I detest doing laundry and if you share my predicament, then be glad that you’re not living with your boyfriend. It’s bad enough having to do your own laundry.

Infinite bed space – Do I really need to explain the joy of having extra bed space to yourself? The joy of uninterrupted sleep is imperative for a good girlfriend.

Bathroom time - When sharing a home, you pretty much share everything and by everything, I mean every little thing. Even the unattractive after-poop scent. Leave a little mystery to your relationship and enjoy not living together.

It’s no secret that weightlifting is good for you, but now a new study on brains and brawn suggests that going hard in the gym for as little as 20 minutes can boost your long-term memory by 10 percent.“Our study indicates that people don’t have to dedicate large amounts of time to give their brain a boost,” study leader Lisa Weinberg, a graduate student at the Georgia Institute of Technology, said in a written statement.For the study, researchers asked 46 healthy young adults to try to remember a series of 90 photographs that were shown on a computer screen. Then half of the group worked out on a leg-extension exercise machine — doing 50 reps — while the other half sat in a chair and didn’t exercise. The researchers then took saliva samples from each person.Two days later, the same men and women met with the researchers again to look at a series of 180 photographs, which included the 90 photos that were shown before. This time, the men and women were asked to recall which photos they had seen previously and which were new.What did the researchers find?
The people who exercised remembered around 60 percent of the photos they had seen before, while those who didn’t exercise remembered only around 50 percent.Previous research in older men and women (50 to 85 years old) has found that a brief workout improves memory due to the exercise-induced release of the stress hormone norepinephrine. Scientists have long known that the hormone, a chemical messenger in the brain, plays a strong role in memory.
And it turns out that, in this new study, those people who exercised had increased measures of norepinephrine in their saliva samples. How J Rule, Ashanti’s performance stunned Warri fans

Rapper J Rule and R &B singer, Ashanti have always proved to be “the best pair” on stage serenading music lovers across the world. And last Wednesday’s performance was not different as the American superstars kept fun seekers, in Warri, Delta State, grooving throughout the night in the spirit of marking the nation’s 54th Independence anniversary.

The show, “Warri Again”, organised by Brownhill Event Centre, saw a galaxy of Nigerian artistes and comedians sharing the stage with the international artistes. It was indeed, a show of class and glamour as there was no dull moment while it lasted.
Despite the heavy downpour that almost marred the show, hordes of revellers continued swarming the event venue to catch a glimpse of the concert.Ace-comedian, Ali Baba and songstress, Omawumi, who anchored the show, were in their best elements, dishing out rib-cracking jokes. The show kicked off at about 10 pm, with Seyi Shay mounting the stage to thrill the quality audience with her electrifying performance.
Thereafter, reggae-dancehall singer and songwriter, Patoranking took the floor and rendered his wave-making single “Girlie O”, But when he sang “Alubarika”, the audience took to their heels as they danced to the rhythm of the song.Iyanya also thrilled the audience with sexy dance steps, just as the highlife musician, Flavour got a standing ovation after performing “Ada Ada”. Other artistes that gave good accounts of themselves were Daddy Showkey, Yemi Alade and Orisefemi.
But the turning point of the show was when Ja Rule and Ashanti appeared on stage. The two set the stage on fire with their freestyling to the beat of Ashanti’s chart-topping hit “Foolish.”Ashanti also had the crowd roaring with her sexual dance moves and dancehall whining. It has been more than 13 years since Ashanti’s single “Foolish” was released on her debut album, and the audience still goes wild as if it were still fresh.
Ja Rule stayed true to his rap and rhyme, while Ashanti gave her classic “Ashanti” R&B vocals on the chorus. While their performance lasted, the elated audience kept standing, shouting and hailing the artistes. They proved to their Warri fans that the dawn to dusk wait was not in vain...
