The Headies has gained the reputation for becoming one of the most revered awards ceremonies in the Nigerian music industry.

It’s the award every Nigerian artiste,
both young and upcoming dream of.
Come this Sunday, The Eko Hotels and Suite Convention centre will play host to the biggest entertainers in the country as the Headies award come to town again.
A brainchild of showbiz mogul, Ayo Animashaun, the most successful artiste in the year under review will go home
with the artiste of the year award. The nominees for this category are Tiwa Savage, Davido, Phyno, Olamide,
Kcee, Flavour and Wizkid.

The artistes are currently using their social media platforms to seek for votes.

I am selling nasty music and getting rich off it —Reminisce

Popular indigenous rapper, Remilekun Safaru known as Reminisce has come out to declare that though people term his indigenous rap music as foul and disgusting
music, but he is getting rich off it.

“I don’t think anyone has given indigenous rappers any chance, we took it by ourselves. We just decided among ourselves that we need to make people know what we have to offer. Indigenous rappers own the crowd. Let’s be very honest with ourselves, how many people can speak good English in this country? It’s about the audience affiliating with the artistes who speak their language.
It’s not about calling indigenous rappers razz and local.
More people want to be razz now; they think razz is the new cool. Luckily for me, I am selling razz music and I am getting rich off it. “

The Alaga Ibile star also said that his voice is what sets him apart from every rapper. “I think it’s my voice that makes me different from any other rapper. My voice is my strong point, nobody sounds like me”

Future Award special: Linda Ikeji donates N1m to fight Ebola

It was indeed an unforgettable evening of inspiration and glitz, as the Future Awards Africa 2014 held on Sunday at the prestigious Intercontinental Hotel.
The event hosted by Iyanya, Osas Ighodaro, Ice Prince and Flavia was graced by stars like Omotola Jalade- Ekeinde, Banky W, Funke Akindele, Seyi Shay, Dakore Akande, Timi Dakolo, Toke Makinwa, Toolz, Uti
Nwachukwu, and others notable dignitaries.
Ten outstanding individuals were rewarded for their excellent work across different fields: business, entertainment, politics, science and technology and education.
A star highlight of the evening was the final phase of TFAA’s #STOPEBOLA campaign, which was held via an auction on a custom piece by A-List haute couture designer, Lanre Da Silva Ajayi. Blogger, linda Ikeji bid a whopping sum of one million naira on the dress which proceeds will go to United Nations Ebola Response Fund.

I thought I was smuggling Indian Hemp, not guns - Suspect

The Lagos State Police Command has arrested a suspected robber, Amos Kuesi, who said he thought he was smuggling hemp and not guns before he was arrested.
He told reporters “I travelled to Port Harcourt to see some friends.
I went with Sotin. On our way back, I was given a package and I was told it contained hemp. I was asked to deliver it to a man in the Mile 2 area of Lagos. I did not know the Port Harcourt boys also hid guns and live cartridges inside the bag.

“The bag was placed in the boot of the bus I
boarded from Port Harcourt to Lagos. If only I knew the content of the bag included guns, I would not have agreed to deliver it. They gave me the man’s phone number adding that he would pay me N50,000.
“But while heading for Oshodi through Agege, some policemen searched us. Sotin ran away, but the policemen arrested me.“I used to work as a generator repairer. I was living fine until some months ago when I ran into financial difficulties.

That was how I was introduced to the gang by one Ifeanyi. I knew them as casual friends. I did not know they were robbers.

MI blasts Saeon over Wizkid’s collabo charges

Seun Oni known as Saeon by music fans has a thing going for her as a singer. Her hit single ‘Boogle Down’ is a good proof of what she can do. But it seems the beautiful lady has the mischievous streak in her genetic
make-up.
Recently, she drew the ire of fellow music makers for disclosing in an interview how much Wizkid collected from her to do a collaboration with her. MI was particularly
pissed and blasted the young singer for being a loud mouth. Saeon claimed Wizkid collected N1.5 million from her but this to rapper, MI was uncalled for even though
he defended Wizkid’s right for collecting the collabo charges. “Business is business but Saeon has no right going to town to broadcast it” the rapper said.
But Potpourri has found out the two singers haven’t been true to their fans as they have made contrary statements to what transpired between them in separate
interviews before their alleged deal. In an interview with Vanguard months ago; (Excerpts of interview)

What did it cost you to feature Wizkid in the song?

We just expressed it to his camp, and I guess he did some researches on me, came back to say, yes, and that was it.
Did you have to pay?
I am just going to laugh. That will be my answer

Wizkid on the other hand, also in an interview with Vanguard had stated “ I do not charge people I love for a collabo but when somebody is on my neck, I can charge
like N10 million for it.
